    Cyclical Replacement of UPS Systems Supporting SingTel EXPAN DataCenter @ Level 2 on 22 Nov 2009 from 00:01 till 02:00 (SGT)

    This is to inform you that SingTel EXPAN will be carrying out cyclical replacement for the existing 2 x UPS (2-3 & 2-4) systems supporting our racks in ComCentre III Data Centre on level 2.

    The date/time for the UPS Systems replacement have been scheduled between:

    START : 22nd November 2009, 0001 hrs (Singapore Time)

    END : 22nd November 2009, 0200 hrs (Singapore Time)

    A. Objectives
    - Cyclical Replacement of UPS
    - To enhance the design of existing UPS Systems

    B. Benefits
    - Reliable and Efficient System
    - To minimize breakdown
    - Robust and improve maintainability

    C. Impact To Customers (What you need to note/do?)
    - Prior to the UPS systems replacement work, SingTel strongly recommend that customers backup your critical data/divert your critical services and you are require to shutdown all your equipments in the Datacenter by the date/timings as stated above.
    - Above START indicates the date/time that power will be cut-off to your cages/racks/equipments.
    - Above END (normalization of power) indicates the date/time that power will be normalized to your cages/racks/equipments.
    - Customers are required to shutdown all your equipments 30mins before the START time. At the START time, SingTel will proceed to cut-off the power supply to your cages/racks/equipments.
    - At the END time, SingTel will proceed to normalize the power supply to the respective cages/racks/equipments. Customers may proceed to start-up all your equipments 30mins after the respective END time.

    D. Contingencies
    - All necessary contingencies are in place. SingTel will reverse to the original setup if the process is permissible should the unforeseen occurs.
    - Generators and UPS static bypass will support DC operations should there be any unforeseen power outages during the works.
    - All technical experts will be stationed onsite to resolve any electrical issues that may arise during the works.
    - Buffers have been factored in the work plan for observation/stabilization for the executed work. This period is also the built-in time to address any unforeseen delay that may arise from the works.

    E. Note
    - SingTel strongly recommend customers to make prior arrangement to backup your critical data/divert your critical services and shutdown all your equipments 30mins before the START time for your cages/racks/equipments so as to mitigate any unforeseen delays/risk that may arise during the replacement works.

    SingTel EXPAN Network Maintenance Activity

    This is to inform you that SingTel EXPAN will be carrying out an urgent network maintenance activity at ComCenter III from 08 Nov 2009 00:01 till 08 Nov 2009 06:00 (Singapore Time).

    Reason: Cabling maintenance work by SingTel EXPAN Network Engineer.

    Impact: Affected customers will experience intermittent loss of internet connectivity up to 5 minutes during the maintenance window.

    Affected Customers: All CHOON.NET virtual hosting, VPS, dedicated servers and colocate customers in Singapore using CHOON.NET's racks in SingTel EXPAN Comcenter III.

  • Initial release mailfront-plugin-remotehost version 0.01 in our yum repo. This mailfront plugin provides an ability for rejecting/deferring messages based on regular expressions in the senders' remotehost names aka TCPREMOTEHOST environment variable if found or otherwise remoteip aka TCPREMOTEIP is being used instead. We will try to setup a page about it when time allows. For those who are interested, feel free to download the source at mailfront-plugin-remotehost-0.01.tar.gz. This is released under GPL.

    This is to inform you that SingTel EXPAN will be carrying out a network maintenance activity at ComCenter III from 10 Oct 2009 22:00 till 11 Oct 2009 14:00 (Singapore Time).

    Reason: EXPAN ComCenter III - 2009 Annual Genset On-Load Testing and HT Servicing (Source 1) by SingTel Network Engineer. This is part of SingTel commitments to ensure resilience of the power systems/infrastructure.

    Impact: No impact is expected. However SingTel recommend that you back up your critical data and/or divert your critical services if necessary.

    Affected Customers: All CHOON.NET virtual hosting, VPS, dedicated servers and colocate customers in Singapore using CHOON.NET's racks in SingTel EXPAN Comcenter III.

    Reason: Service enhancement in EXPAN Network by SingTel EXPAN Network Engineer.
    Impact: Customers will experience intermittent interruption for 30 minutes or less during the maintenance window.
  • Dear valued customers whose servers are provided by Wowrack, this is to inform you that one of their switches in which you might be connected to is having an issue with its fan. Wowrack will need to replace this fan since it is critical to the operation of the switch. They will start performing the replacement during this window time tonight:

    Start Time: 2009-08-31 23:00 PDT
    End Time: 2009-09-01 01:00 PDT

    Affected Customers: 20th Floor The fan is hot swappable means that the switch can stay online while its fan being replaced. Wowrack will not expect that there will be impact in the Internet connectivity. But please schedule accordingly on your end for any unplanned outage during this maintenance.   • Updated Policyd v1 to support MySQL-5.1.37-0 in our repo. Policyd v1 is an anti-spam plugin for Postfix (written in C) that does Greylisting, Sender-(envelope, SASL or host/ip)-based throttling (on messages and/or volume per defined time unit), Recipient rate limiting, Spamtrap monitoring / blacklisting, HELO auto blacklisting and HELO randomization prevention.
  • Provides Check Policyd tool. This is for anyone who like to know whether the IP address is in our policyd database.
  • Successfully updated and rebooted all xen servers dom0 and domU kernels to xen-kernel release 2.6.18.8-929.0.choon_xen using linux-2.6.18-xen.hg changeset 929 in our repo. Many apologies for this short non-schedule downtime as this new kernel need testing before deployment to production servers. This is a critical security update especially to fix Linux NULL pointer dereference due to incorrect proto_ops initializations (CVE-2009-2692).

  • Glad to support POP3 over SSL (pop3s) and IMAP over SSL (imaps) for all managed qmail servers. Users are strongly encouraged to use pop3s and imaps instead of pop3 and imap respectively. Make sure the option Use secure authentication is unchecked and select SSL/TLS in the Connection security option in the mail client program.
